Flower Child

Quinn has discovered dandelions and loves to pick them .... all of them! He gave me one and I put it behind my ear. So now he has to put them behind his ears all the time. My flower child is so cute.

Hamura City Zoo II

The other part of the zoo that Quinn likes is the play area with all of the rides (that's where you drop a chunk of change before you know it). And the last picture is him eating his udon noodles. Quinn loves Japanese food.

Hamura City Zoo

Neal is gone again so Quinn and I went to the Hamura Zoo. It's a short 15 minute drive from home and is a cheap day out ($3.00). The animals look fairly healthy but their habitats leave a bit to be desired in this progressive age. Quinn had a blast at all the petting areas and feeding sites. When you first enter the zoo, they have a building were the kids can hold (in their hands or in boxes) guinea pigs, baby chicks and mice. He held them all! He preferred the boxes most of the time. Plus you can buy food to feed other animals throughout the zoo. He fed pigs, goats, a big tortoise, ducks & geese and penguins.

On the Phone

Quinn likes to talk on the phone. However he doesn't understand that people can't see what he sees. So he often holds things up to the phone when he talks about them.

Mt. Mitake

Last weekend, we went to the Mt. Mitake Sake Brewery to do some cherry blossom viewing. Unfortunately there were no trees in bloom up there. So instead we ate, drank, walked up to the shrine and watched the kayakers on the Tama river. Quinn really enjoyed ringing the bell by the shrine.

Plum Park in Ome, Japan

On April 1st, we visited a Plum Blossom Park in Ome with my Japanese teacher, Tomoko-san and her 3 children and the Davis and Joyner families. It was a bit of a climb to the top with strollers but we made it. The kids enjoyed eating Japanese snacks and playing baseball and soccer. Of course Quinn attempted to wander off a few times but the big kids kept him in line.
