On Saturday, our BX had a Mario Kart Wii Grand Prix contest. Quinn was so excited to participate and quickly dressed in his favorite Mario shirt. There was a big turn out of contestants and viewers. I was so surprised by all the kids with their Mario shirts. Each child picked a number to see in what order they would race. Quinn's race was very exciting and it was a photo finish but he didn't win. Neal and I were a little worried that he would cry and get upset if he didn't win. But Quinn kept it together and said "good game" to the other boy and walked away without crying or getting too upset. We are very proud of him. And Scarlett just liked the bean bag chairs.

Scarlett's First Game of Bowling
Last week was a rainy one so Quinn, Scarlett, and I headed to Tomodachi Bowling Lanes. This was Scarlett's first introduction into the wonderful world of bowling and by golly she's a fan. She was all about pushing the ball down the ramp, watching it hit the pins and cheering. She did scare me a couple of times carrying her 4 pound bowling ball around. By the end, Scarlett was lounging on the floor and cheering Quinn on.
Push Up Pops...Ugh! What a Mess.

100+ Treasures Found!
We hit a milestone this week. We found our 100th treasure as team deadheadjapan. But it is never enough, especially with the fierce competition we have going with Team Davis Global. We continue to discover new and wonderful locations in our area and are getting better at finding the really small and cleverly hid caches. Check out the photo of our smallest find yet.

Japanese Fortune Cookie
My English student Kazuko-san introduces us to many aspects of Japanese culture, customs, food, and basically things we wouldn't know about without her help. This week she brought the Japanese version of the fortune cookie for the kids. Instead of a piece of paper in each cookie, you get a small traditional toy. Needless to say, the kids loved breaking them apart and seeing the treasures inside.

A Lesson In Saving.
Quinn wants one of everything he sees when we go to the store. So we have started a "save for what you want" chart system. We copied the idea from our good friends Team Davis. He wanted a Pokeman wallet and was willing to work for it. So we drew a chart and he colored a line for each dollar he made for doing chores or that he had received as a gift. It only took him 2 weeks.

Team Deadhead Japan continues to Treasure Hunt
We continue to have a blast searching the hidden corners and beautiful scenic views of Japan hunting for "treasures". Along the way, Quinn discovered a 2 story high slide made out of concrete. The photos include a successful grab after a short hike over the Okutama Dam and up a hill, an unsuccessful phone booth search, and Neal with the smallest cache we've seen so far.
Another Farewell
This week Quinn had to say goodbye to another good friend, Joseph. He is having a hard time understanding why everyone seems to be leaving and we are staying (at least for one more year). Quinn asked me if we could move too and if his Daddy could get a new job like Mr. Dan and Joseph's Daddy. Being a military kid can definitely be a bummer sometimes!
