We took the kids to a Halloween party last week. They wore their original costumes on this date. Scarlett was again, not impressed and not thrilled but did it because Quinn did. I was trying to get her to hold the leaves out but she just didn't quite get it. Hope you enjoy the pictures.

Original Halloween Costumes

Caramel Apples and Paper Plate Pumpkins....
Halloween 2010
So I am way behind on posts but I want to get Halloween done today. It is Halloween night at 9:00pm. I just put the "party girl" to bed (Q passed out on the car ride home an hour ago). So first thing this morning we carved our pumpkin and prepared to meet up with Quinn's friend, Kaho and her family. We started off at the YCC and then hit the neighborhood. This was Kaho's first time trick or treating. She quickly overcame her shyness after the first couple of houses. I think she had fun. I know Quinn did! Unfortunately the weather took a turn for the worst at the end with drizzling rain but we persevered.
Scarlett wasn't so much about the costumes but loved the chocolate. She was supposed to be the Fire Flower that turned Quinn into Fire Mario. (I will post pictures of them in those costumes later). But we couldn't find the hat today and she didn't want to wear it. So we convinced her to be a ladybug by having Quinn put the costume on. She only left it on long enough to take pictures two times. At the end of the night, Scarlett moved all their candy into one central bucket .... we have much too much candy in the house!

In Case of An Earthquake...
UNDO KAI 2010
Yesterday was Quinn's annual Sport's Day at his yochien. As usual, it was a super fun day filled with some amazing work put in by all the teachers. Events for Quinn's class included a bear dance, a jungle dance, foot races, and my all time favorite Che Che kori (video included below). Che Che Kori is a game were the kids are divided into a red team and a white team. They do a little dance and then the music changes and they run and try to throw balls into a basket. Two parents wear the baskets on their backs and walk around while the kids throw the balls at them. At the end, the kids count out the balls to see which team has the most.
Our friend Charlie's class had to run through an obstacle course and at the end build a giant Obento box ... super kawaii! Japanese teacher's creativity and ability to make anything out of paper never ceases to amaze me.
Even Scarlett got to run a race. And she got a book and pinwheel at the end. We are surely going to miss our Japanese yochien experience when it finally comes to an end.
